Getting Started With Self-Refelction

The following questions are designed to help you to start the process of self-reflection and learning, which in turn will help you to move forward. They will also help me to understand how I can best serve you through the coaching relationship.

Give as little or as much detail as you want. Hopefully, we can explore your answers further during the first session.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the questions. Hopefully, it will help both of us to start thinking about next steps.

Information about what’s to come

Here’s a reminder of what we’ll be looking into in the coming sessions if you decide to go ahead. On a general level, at the start of each session, we’ll review the progress you’ve made in between sessions. There will also always be an opportunity to override the planned session if there’s a pressing issue you’d like to discuss.  It may also take more than one session to complete each area. That’s fine. This is just a guide to the structure.

Week one: Values

We’ll review the work you’ve completed to start with and begin to work on uncovering your values. I have an exercise to help you identify your top 5 values. We all think we know what’s important to us but the results of the exercise can be surprising.

Week one homework will be to carry out some strengths and weaknesses research. There may also be a daily journaling activity to do, but don’t worry, it’ll only take a few minutes.

Week two: Goal setting

Based on the things you’ve identified as important to you, we’ll work together to establish your big goal and break it down into manageable steps.

Week two homework will be designed to help reinforce the reasons behind your goal to help motivate you to take the actions you need to take.

Week three and beyond

You decide what’s important for you to work on during the following sessions. It may be how your goal setting activities are going or it may be on another topic that you feel is important, that you don’t understand or don’t know how to manage.

The first few sessions (and work in between) will give us a good basic understanding of what’s important to you; what you want your life to look like; and what you need to do to achieve it. This helps to guide all future sessions.

And finally!

In order for coaching to work, it’s important to commit to completing homework and taking agreed actions. It’s only through taking responsibility for your own future and being willing to question your own thoughts and beliefs that major break-throughs can be achieved.

Now’s the time to decide if you’d like to go ahead.
